me and my peeps {lou, dix, and dilly}, met veej for lunchie-lunch at melanie's the other day.

crusty butts {bbq} on the menu. who can resist?

yummy crusty butts and slaw. shared with lou, who...

ordered a sampler with scoops of chicken pecan salad, pimiento, and crab salad. we like to get the samplers. because a girl can never decide :) thus the problem in choosing just three flavors!


we prefer the pimiento scoop at another restaurant we frequent, but... they charge extra for additional crackers. the other establishment only give three packs of two crackers per mound. that's ridunkalunk! so that is why we are currently protesting from our usual mounded salad venue. but melanie's nicely obliged when lou requested for more crackers. we looked at each other with "oh, yeah's" in our eyes.

the waiter is now my new friend. anyone who calls you friend right off the back has to be, right? but i probably need to find out what my new friend's name is. what a cutie-patootie.

i can never say no to a cup o 'mater soup. this cup, however, didn't make me want to hug it, but i would give it a nice firm "how do you do" handshake.

as you know, i rarely deny myself le scene fini: dessert. here, blue bell mint chocolate chip ice cream in a pretty dish. sigh! squeal! drool! yums! this made me smile and was much deserving of a big bear hug. in my belly! oh, i've missed you mint chocolate chip.

oh, so back to the crusty butts! it wasn't bad, but was it crusty? not so much. there was a tiny side mini cup of a vinegary-based dippity pour-oversy sauce that accompanied the dish. it had a bit of a kick to it, but i just wish overall the "q" were a bit thicker. less butts and more crusties, melanie! i did like the slaw though. had the nice twang of a home-styled cuzz'n of the kfc slaw.


so after lots of giggles and inappropriate jargoning and girlish babbling, it was time to bid veej adieu. back to the grind for us!


noticed this sign while lou footed the bill {and "thank you, friend" to you too--melanie's only accepts check or cash} the lunch period was most definitely a darling splotch of sunshine on that rainy toozday.

and, yes, we left not only with the happy hearts we entered with, we rolled out with happy beauti-FULL bellies too.

so during one of my obsessive nights on pinterest, i came across a wonderful quote which happens to be a proverb:

which got me thinking... is it time for a new tattoo? why, possibly! but where? i certainly don't want a tramp stamp, nor do i want any inking anywhere near my knockers OR my knickers. i have one already on my right shoulder of my astrological sign, scorpio. the second is on the back of my neck. it's a chinese symbol for direction, which i say has a double meaning for me. i have direction, as in life-- where i wanna go, what i wanna do-- and i'm good with directions, i don't even need landmarks. 

i've never really had a desire to ink my ankle, but nicole richie has a cool one. is it ironic that the rosary is not my thing, but the tattoo i want is a proverb?

the dixie chicks decided to get chicken feet tattooed on their own feet to mark every gold and platinum album and no. 1 single. i thought of something like that. whenever i would write another one of my children's books, i'd just get another daisy (my logo) put on. but i've sorta stopped writing for a while, so i'll just file that idea for a while.

i really like the idea of the arm, but not on the outside like a band. i like the inner forearm, and the upper inner arm, like kimberly wilson of tranquiliT did. sweet. although... not thinking it's the tattoo location for me.

i always loved seeing tattoos on wrists though. i came across this tattoo. if i were more crafty, i'd steal this idea myself!

i thought it would be a quite symbolic location as i've had two carpal tunnel surgeries. thinking on the left it would be the first part "she is clothed in strength and dignity," and the rest "and she laughs without fear of the future" on the right. i shared another quote i liked a lot with cali bff, but she thought this one was more fitting because she said i'm all about clothing. i will have to design maybe an icon to go with each side perhaps. that would definitely be giddy? yup! material to design my own tattoo (or tattoos in this case since it would be split between both wrists).

tattoos are very representative of the people that have them. they have different meanings, sometimes obvious and sometimes not. another thing about tattoos that i relate to on a more personal level...they are short and to the point. 

i am short, and here's my point: barefoot, i'm really a foot taller than that hervé villechaize. which is what this is really all about after all. a little tattoo.

fell in love with this tree when i saw it at macy's last year.  love the non-traditional christmas colors. and most certainly the yummy treats theme just spoke to my inner sweet tooth. well, maybe it was more like a high-pitched squeal than a "spoke." and maybe it wasn't so much "inner" either. thankfully, my mitten-in-mouth trick helped create a semi-soundproof barrier.

but before that macy's tree, i discovered my all-time favorite look by danielle thompson.

which certainly prompted me to create my own danielle thompson-inspired pom-pom wreath last year.

and with the help of my good friends (homegoods, tjmaxx, macy's, and target) last fall + winter--and some cupcake ornaments thanks to my sis-in-law, bro, and nephs, i was able to get my own candy-colored christmas started.

this year i was able to find even more. thanks again to my old friends (homegoods, tjmaxx, and target) with some new holiday friends (kohl's, big lots, walmart, and tuesday morning).



here is part of my totally sweet collection. by the way, the jolly rancher and smarties candy canes are so tasty yum-yum and fit the color-scheme splendidly.

i really want a pink or white tree this year, but am willing to compromise on perhaps a semi-flocked tree.
